Google in legal trouble in India for including PM Modi in top criminals search results

An Indian court has issued a notice to Google, its CEO and India head for listing Prime Minister Narendra Modi among the world’s top ten criminals in its image search results and registered a criminal case against the company.
The complainant, an advocate named Sushl Kumar Mishra, has argued that a Google search for the “top ten criminals of the world” showed Modi’s photograph in the search results. Mishra has said that while he wrote to Google to remove Modi’s name from the list, he got no response. Read more…

Cisco acquires search company
Cisco this week acquired privately held Synata, a developer of search technology for collaboration tools.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Synata’s software will help users of Cisco’s Spark business collaboration service search rooms and content within the service, Cisco says. Spark is a cloud-based service that enables users to message, meet, or call.

Microsoft pact makes Baidu the Edge browser’s default search engine in China

Microsoft has announced a new partnership with Baidu, the hugely popular Chinese search engine. In China, Baidu.com will be the default home page and search engine for the new Microsoft Edge browser. Additionally, Baidu will deliver Universal Windows Applications for search, video, cloud and maps for Windows 10. The company plans to deliver a customized experience for Baidu’s more than 600 million users, featuring local browsing and search. Microsoft will make it easy for customers to upgrade to the official Windows 10 via a Baidu “Windows 10 Express” distribution channel.
